Application Steps

How to apply?

You apply for a programme of your choice online, through the IRK system (Online Application System). For most programmes, there is no need for candidates to come to Poland at this stage. Qualification procedures take into consideration the grades on your secondary school-leaving certificate (or a different document entitling you to study at undergraduate level in the country where you graduated from a secondary school) or on your BA/BSc/BEng diploma (or a different document entitling you to study at graduate level in the country where you graduated from a university/college).

For some programmes (especially those related to fine arts), in order to be accepted you have to pass an additional entrance exam organized by the University of Silesia.

Admission to most programmes takes place once a year and it usually starts in early June. For some graduate programmes, admission takes place in February, but this applies only to post-BEng programmes addressed to candidates who hold the title of BEng (they last 7 semesters and typically end in February, too).

Dates when the admission process starts and ends may differ depending on the programme. Consequently, candidates should regularly check the University’s website to get up-to-date information on admission timetables for specific programmes.

Detailed information on admission and the specific procedures for a given academic year are usually published in April or in May.

Please note due to the COVID-19 situation the enrollment will start on July 15th, 2020. The admission procedures end on 11th October 2020.

In order to apply for studies at the University of Silesia please follow further-mentioned steps:

  1. Visit the Online Application System website: https://irk.us.edu.pl/.
  2. Create an account in the Online Application System – please remember your login and password generated during the registration. They will be essential in the application process.
  3. Complete your personal data.
  4. Choose the programme you wish to study – the list of programmes available for studies, as well as information on their topic (fees, deadlines, etc.), can be found in the “Catalogue” tab.
  5. Upload required documents – such as high school graduation diploma or bachelor's diploma and supplement with grades (all of those should have apostille stamp or consular legalization), scan of your passport, etc.
  6. Check the requirements.
  7. Apply for the programme – you will find the “apply” button on the programme’s site.
  8. Pay the application fee – you will find the details for payment in your Online Application System account. Certain notification will be visible there after the payment is received.
  9. Take a Polish language exam (if applicable).
  10. Wait for the admission decision.

If you are qualified for studies you will find notification in your account in Online Application System, as well as on the lists of qualified candidates. In few days you can expect the scan of your Acceptance Letter (useful for example in visa issues) to be visible in your Online Application System account.

Please note: If you are applying on tuition-paying basis and get accepted for studies, please remember to submit the tuition fee for your first semester before the start of your studies.
